Corrimal Rangers have been dealt a blow before their Illawarra Premier League season has even begun with co-coach Jason Davkovski leaving the club.

Davkovski helped guide the club to victory in the Fraternity Club Cup final exactly two weeks ago, however, two days after he stood aside for an initially unspecified period of time.

In the past few days, Davkovski informed Corrimal he would not be returning citing a difference of opinion on certain matters with the club hierarchy.

When questioned about his departure, Davkovski admits it was a decision he didn’t take lightly while emphasising he left amicably.

“I’ve left the club in a better position than when I arrived,” Davkovski said.

“I have no animosity with [Corrimal president] Claude [Guido] or anyone else at the club.”

Guido acknowledged this wasn’t an ideal situation but reaffirmed there was no resentment between Davkovski and the club.

“There’s no animosity, I am disappointed with the situation but we all need to move on,” Guido said.

Davkovski and Robert Jonovski began their tenure with Corrimal in 2018 where they led the club to an eighth-place finish as well as a Bert Bampton Cup final appearance.

Jonovski will continue with the club as the outright head coach.

Corrimal play Port Kembla in their first Premier League match of the season this afternoon at Memorial Park.
