Albion Park White Eagles will retain the services of head coach Paul Carter beyond 2018 after he steered the club back to the finals in his first year at the helm.

The former NSL defender took over at Terry Reserve after a disappointing 2017 season which saw them go through two coaches before falling short of the top five.

After 19 rounds in charge, Carter has led the side to 12 wins, six draws and one defeat which sees them sitting in third place in the IPL. He admits he is delighted to be given another year at the club.

“I am very excited about it,” he said.

“I am the one that’s lucky, they are a very good club and they are very good people… I hope I do a good job because the club deserves everything.”

The White Eagles have a tough finish to the regular season, facing the other three members of the top four. Depending on results, they are still a chance of catching second-placed Wollongong Olympic who they host next Sunday.

Albion Park is the third side Carter has coached in the IPL after stints with Wollongong United and Shell Cove. He has also held a number of positions within the NSW footballing pyramid since taking over St George in 1998.
